Why I Started Hausvibe

Ben founder of hausvibe, house renovation

Hey there, my name is Ben and I want to personally thank you for visiting this blog. I live in Oregon with my wife (Britt), daughter (Tills), and dog (Bix).

Growing up, I was a theatre kid, always trying to ham it up with my friends both on and off stage.

I became fascinated with set building, it’s an amazing feeling to use paint, wood, and props to create an entire atmosphere and draw out an emotional response. You can turn something boring into something enchanted in a matter of hours.

It was a natural progression for me to get into interior design and remodeling when I was older. I also grew up in a family that had a small contracting business. This taught me many skills such as framing, tiling, trim work, and painting. I spent a good part of my teenage summers helping my dad at job sites.

In my 20s, I got my first job remodeling commercial buildings into event spaces. This was an amazing blend of building something that had style, purpose, and atmosphere. We gutted out old buildings and turned them into places for weddings, parties, events, etc.

My next job was running a crew for a new housing development. This gave me a tremendous overview of what it takes to build something from start to finish, not just a facade. I soon began to realize that my passion was not in framing or foundations but in the aesthetics and ‘finish’ work of a home.

I saved money and went out on my own looking for houses in bad shape that I could renovate and flip. This is where I found my stride. I bought, renovated, and flipped more than 10 houses in 3 years. I enjoyed the satisfaction of taking something worn down and breathing life back into it. After the houses were remodeled, I also enjoyed staging them to sell. This is where I honed in my interior design and home decor skills even further.

I started hausvibe as an outlet to share my passion for interior design. This blog shares ideas, concepts, and inspiration to turn a house into a home. Thanks for stopping by!

Some fun facts about me:
